Persuasive Writing
While there are a number of differences between writing for English and writing for professional communication, I have found that many of the skills I learned in my English Composition II class have benefitted my communication writing. This is especially apparent in my ability to compose persuasive arguments from narratives.
Persuasive Essay: Macbeth
In this persuasive essay, I argue that Lord Macbeth is culpable for the murder of King Duncan. This essay illustrates my ability to use rhetoric to write persuasively, using evidence from outside sources, such as academic journals as well as the main narrative, Shakespeare's play, Macbeth, to support my thesis.
Persuasive Essay: Twelve Angry Men
For this essay, I analyzed the rhetoric used by the 11th Juror in Reginald Roses's, Twelve Angry Men. This essay shows how I can analyze small parts out of larger narratives, such as side characters, and write a compelling argument on them, including rebuttals to counterarguments.
